Oxygen isotopes on the Earth and Moon measure the same according to the specimens gathered from the Moon, meaning that the Earth and Moon did indeed form at the same distance from the Sun. Finding a theory that could satisfy all three of these specific facts would prove to be rather difficult. There have been three major theories about how the moon was created that have been discounted. Below we will discover what each of these three theories proposed and why they were deemed to be unlikely or impossible. The Fission Theory. The Fission Theory proposes that the Moon was created in the early history of our solar system when something caused the Earth to break apart and a large part of the Earth was cast into space which eventually formed into the Moon. This idea supported the fact that the Earth and Moon share similar mantles, but where this theory falls apart involves the actual physics it would take to create such a scenario. The amount of angular momentum and energy required to create this situation would make the current placement of the Earth and Moon next to impossible. Thus, the fission theory has been deemed incorrect. The Capture Theory. The Capture Theory contends that the Moon came to be obtained by the Earth after it formed in a different location in the solar system, shedding light on the Moon's different composition. There are a couple problems with this scenario. Since we know that the Earth and Moon have the same oxygen isotopes on their surfaces, therefore meaning they would have the same amount of baking from the Sun, it doesn't explain how the Moon would have encountered the extra baking on its surface. The physics behind this call for a lot of specific things to happen, such as the Moon entering Earth's gravitational speed at just the right speed, at just the right distance to allow for the current set-up. Not only would it have to approach the Earth with these two requirements, but there would also have to be something that could slow the Moon down., however, capture into the Moon's present orbit is very improbable. Something would have to slow it down with just the right gravitational pull to cause the Moon to fall into Earth's orbit. While complicated, this could have been possible, but it is very unlikely. However, the fact of the matter is that moon will always remain the best option for mankind. The reason for this stems from the fact that the moon can always act as a stepping stone to the rest of the solar system and beyond. This is only natural, as the moon is in a very close proximity to Earth. Only by taking a 3 day trip, it is possible to reach the Moon with standard chemical propulsion techniques. However, in retrospect, going to Mars would require almost 100 times the amount of trip time of moon, since Mars is about 1000 times further then the moon. The amount of life support that is required for a mission that will take 2 years or more is definitely very costly and more importantly, the technological capability is not there. Thus, with our present global financial and technical capability, the moon is the only realistic option.

According to this scenario, both water and other elements that have low boiling temperatures (volatile elements), escaped from the disk and were lost forever to space. This model would form a volatile-element-depleted and bone-dry Moon. At the time, this scenario seemed to be consistent with earlier analyses of lunar samples.

Mysterious and enticing--a true Wonderland world--Mars has sung its scientific siren's song for years to those who seek to understand its many long-held secrets. This small, rocky world with an intriguing red hue, gets its rusty color from the large amount of iron oxide that coats its surface. Much of this small world's charm comes from its reputation of being the happy abode of "little green men"--Earth's neighboring planet that plays host to life as we know it. However, Mars has many captivating features and bewitching mysteries, in addition to the somewhat dated idea that it is the most likely world in our Solar System--other than our Earth--to host living creatures. The duo of small potato-shaped Martian moons, Phobos and Deimos, are frequently considered to be captured asteroids that the Red Planet's gravity snared when they were making an ancient and unfortunate journey through interplanetary space from their place of birth in the Main Asteroid Belt, located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The duo of rocky objects now circle their adopted parent-planet--at least, for the time being. However, in July 2016, a team of astronomers proposed an alternative viewpoint, suggesting that the two little moons were born from an ancient impact on the Martian surface by a crashing primordial object--along with many other now long-lost little moons.
The more widely accepted theory that the planets and regular moons formed together from the same swirling cloud of gas and dust, works well as an explanation for the larger moons of our Solar System, such as the four Galilean moons--Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto--orbiting the giant planet Jupiter. However, the multitude of smaller moons, swarming around the giant planets, "have so far been considered a by-product," Dr. Crida commented in the November 29, 2012 Scientific American.
After a short sojourn under the Moon Goddess's influence, while we become accustomed to expressing ourselves through our emotions and our intuition as readily as we used to express through our minds and our physical bodies, the Old Man in the Moon and the Moon Goddess will unite.
